Studio formed in September following Max's brother's mental health crisis, inspiring our mission to use games for good - although at this point, it wasn't exactly clear how we'd do it.

Fish & chip shop simulator launched on app stores.

Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute

We start exploring collaborations with neuroscientists through Wellcome Trust event at the Sanger Institute

TEAM GROWTH

Expanded the core team and refined our 'Games for Good' philosophy.

KANO RELEASE

Launched our innovative arcade game showcasing technical excellence. We won the Big Indie Pitch for this game in San Francisco at the Game Developers Conference.

SEA HERO QUEST BEGINS

Our first large scale neuroscience collaboration begins. Sea Hero Quest is a spatial navigation game on mobile in collaboration initiated by Deutsche Telekom.

SEA HERO QUEST LAUNCH

Published Sea Hero Quest as GLITCHERS powered by Deutsche Telekom. We didn't realise at the time, but this kick starts a reseearch revolution.

100,000 Players

Our first year goal of 100,000 players was smashed just 10 hours after launch.

SEA HERO QUEST VR

Virtual Reality version of Sea Hero Quest launched, advancing data fidelity and player immersion.

At least 1% of all Gear VR owners in the world download Sea Hero Quest.

SCIENTIFIC PUBLICATIONS

The first research paper about Sea Hero Quest was published: Global determinants of navigation ability.

Won multiple awards for Sea Hero Quest including a BAFTA nomination in the Games Beyond Entertainment category.

ABBVIE PARTNERSHIP

Began collaboration on "Crush your fofo" — understanding Fear of Finding Out in healthcare.

Sea Hero Quest shown as promising tool for personalised cognitive diagnostics of at-genetic-risk Alzheimer's disease.

Sea Hero Quest Research Edition

We released a version of Sea Hero Quest for Researchers in conjunction with Alzheimer's Research UK to facilitate easier data collection for decentralised research studies looking at spatial navigation.

Sea Hero Quest has been played in 195 countries, generating the world's largest and most diverse behavioural dataset in scientific history.
